The Great Smoky Mountains
So, Barbara and I finally decided on an end-of-summer vacation, which felt more like an exciting adventure because we both truly needed an escape and a chance to explore new places. Thus, we began searching for the perfect cabin—one that resonated with both of us. We were selective not only about the layout and scenic location of the cabin but also about fitting within the specific week we chose in September. As a side note, we actually started our search back in July, eager to find the ideal spot.
We found our little slice of the Smoky Mountains through Colonial Properties, conveniently located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The cabin we selected was a cozy place called Moonlit Hideaway, perfectly nestled in the scenic Walden Creek area. We were excited for our stay during the second week of September. Our journey brought us to Sevierville, Tennessee, late Sunday afternoon. Our first stop was at a very large and impressive gas station called Buc-ee’s, conveniently located right off the exit. After refueling, we looked for a place to eat, as we were quite tired and hungry from our long road trip. We eventually settled on a delightful pizzeria in Pigeon Forge called Big Daddy”s, and I must say, it was really good. Our waiter was fantastic. After our meal, it was finally time to head to our final destination, the charming Moonlit Hideaway. It was surprisingly easy to find, thanks to Siri’s reliable guidance.
Though this is my very first blog entry about our wonderful trip, I feel a strong urge for a second or even a third post to share some of the incredible images my wife and I took during our travels. The photos we captured with our iPhones and digital cameras truly deserve more space for appreciation and reflection. I’ll leave links below of the places we visited.
